Bipin Prabhakar

Bipin Prabhakar, DBA, is Chair of Information Systems Graduate Programs and a Clinical Associate Professor of Information Systems in the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. He also serves on the North American Board of the SAP University Alliances Program. Dr. Prabhakar’s teaching expertise is in the areas of ERP Systems and Information Systems Security. He teaches courses on ERP systems in the MS – Information Systems (MSIS) Program Core, the MSIS specialization track in Enterprise Systems and in the graduate certificate program in ERP. He also teaches information security classes in the Enterprise Risk Management specialization track in the MSIS Program. Dr. Prabhakar was also a member of the task force that redesigned the MSIS program in 2010.

Prior to joining the Kelley School in 2008, Dr. Prabhakar was on the faculty of the University of Cincinnati from 1997. At UC, he served as the Academic Director for the MSIS program. In addition, he served as the Director of Information technology with responsibility for all technology related aspects for the college of Business from 2002 to 2007. He was also designated as an SAP Fellow in Enterprise Systems at the University of Cincinnati from 2004 – 2008. In this role, he led the University of Cincinnati’s SAP initiative, which was funded by a grant of $675,000 from SAP America, leading the development of faculty expertise in ERP systems and implementing an SAP enterprise systems lab. He also won several teaching awards while at the University of Cincinnati. Dr. Prabhakar was awarded the Microsoft ACE Security fellowship in 2005.

Dr. Prabhakar’s research interests are in the areas of technology adoption and the evolution of IS job skills. His research has been published in leading journals such as The Communications of the ACM, The DATABASE for Advances information Systems, The Journal of Computer Information Systems and Systems Management Journal. His work has been presented at leading international conferences such as the International Conference on Information Systems, The Association for Information Systems Americas Conference and the Decision Sciences Institute Conference. He has also contributed a chapter to the book titled Readings on ERP Systems.  He has also attained the CISSP certification.
