Nancy Jones is a full-time lecturer in the Charles W. Lamden School of Accountancy at San Diego State University where she currently teaches several graduate level courses in Accounting Information Systems (AIS). Students in Nancy’s classes typically get a healthy exposure to technologies relevant to AIS. Topics include database and SQL queries, systems process integration, internal controls, SAP configuration, IT audit, and of course data analytics.
Known for innovative teaching and curricula development, Nancy is frequently involved in creating new class content and courses. A self-proclaimed accounting analytics evangelist, Nancy believes that all accountants and finance people need to learn to understand the data better. To that end, she developed and taught the first accounting analytics class for the Masters of Science in Accountancy program at San Diego State.
Nancy also taught at Chico State University in the Department of Business Information Systems from 2005 to 2013. Prior to her foray into academia, Nancy worked in industry as a Systems Administrator, Corporate Controller, and Business Consultant.
She is heavily involved in the SAP University Alliances where she contributes curricula and provides training and workshops for other faculty in the Alliance. Nancy is a certified SAP TERP10 instructor and teaches the certification course. She recently developed and delivered the inaugural data analytics course for the U.S. Army Logistics University at Ft. Lee VA.
Nancy has a CMA (Certified Management Accountant), a CSCA (Certified in Strategy and Competitive Analysis) and an MBA with an emphasis in Information Systems. Her bachelor’s degree is in accounting.
